Following his solid comeback at Silverstone, Alonso Lopez dominated the doubleheader in August, securing pole position and victory at Aragon, alongside a steadily improving Sergio Garcia.
The British Grand Prix provided some important answers for the Italjet Gresini Moto2 team. After returning from an injury layoff, Alonso López delivered an excellent performance, securing an impressive front-row start in qualifying with the second-fastest time of 2:01.809. In the race, he battled for the top positions before finishing in sixth place, earning 10 valuable points. It was also a weekend of steady improvement for Sergio Garcia. Despite suffering from gastroenteritis on Friday, the Spaniard secured direct entry into Q2 and went on to deliver his best race of the year. Starting from 16th on the grid, Garcia demonstrated excellent pace and a renewed connection with the bike, ultimately finishing in 10th place.
Team Italjet Gresini Moto2 enjoyed a triumphant weekend at Aragon, marked by Alonso Lopez’s absolute dominance. The Spanish rider claimed pole position on Saturday with a time of 1’49.405, and then completed his masterpiece on Sunday. With an unbeatable pace, Lopez led from start to finish without making a single mistake. This secured him his first victory at the Aragon circuit, and deservedly brought the team back to the top step of the podium! However, it was a more challenging weekend for Sergio Garcia, who started from the back of the grid and was unable to find the pace to make a comeback. Nevertheless, he is already looking ahead to the future in hopes of redeeming himself.
The next round for the Italjet Gresini Moto2 Team is a home race on 11–13 September at the Grand Prix of San Marino and Rimini Riviera.
